Madagascar during the World War 2 : covers with cancellations, postmarks or censor labels.
At the beginning of the Second World War, the island remained faithful to the Vichy government and was cut with France by the British blockade. Ships took the mail and a majority were intercepted and wears the marks of South African or Britishcensorship.
Some ships forced the blockade and the rare mail arrived safely. -

Sale Madagascar covers of the World War 2 during the british occupation.
On May 5, 1942, the British launched the combined operation “Ironclad” and occupied the bay of Diégo-Suarez.
The operation was continued by the East African Army with the conquest of the island, which was fully occupied in November 1942.
In January 1943, the Free French government took over, but British censorship lasted until 1946.
